CAIRO, Oct. 7 (SEE)- Khabib Nurmagomedov successfully defended his UFC lightweight title against Conor McGregor after submitting the Irishman in the fourth round. The fight then swirled in chaos after Khabib jumped over the octagon to attack McGregor’s Jiu Jitsu coach.
The two top contenders in the Lightweight division got it on in the octagon on Saturday night at UFC 229 in what became an instant classic with the Russian winning with a fourth round submission by applying a reverse neck crank/choke hold.
McGregor and Khabib’s rivalry really heated up when the Irishman showed up ahead of the Russian’s previous fight, the title fight with Al Iaquinta, and throwing a trolley at the bus Khabib was on.
The action wasn’t over as the undefeated Russian jumped outside the cage to attack the Irishman’s jiu jitsu coach. As things started getting crazy a member of the Russian’s camp got into the octagon and threw some punches at the recovering McGregor.
Khabib was not given the belt by UFC president Dana White. As president explained that he feared for the reaction of the crowd saying, ‘more people could get hurt’ and instead ordered the champion to be escorted out of the building.
