CAIRO, Oct. 7 (SEE) – Egypt is set to take part in the upcoming China International Import Expo 2018 (CIIE) which is scheduled between November 5th through 10th at the National Convention & Exhibition Center in Shanghai, China.
The Expo is expected to bring more than 2800 companies from more than 130 countries, 200 of them are among the best 500 companies in the world.
Ahmad Sallam, an expert in Chinese affairs, asserted that this is an opportunity for Egypt to increase imports to world markets, especially the Chinese with its more than 1.3 billion consumers. He added that this would re-balance the trade rate between both countries, which currently leans toward the Chinese side.
Sallam explained that Egypt has a good chance to compete in the expo. given its project of developing the New Suez Canal area, as well as the low cost of products shipping and the ongoing tough trade dispute between China and the United States. All these are expected to allow Egypt a relatively easy entry into the Chinese market.
Egypt has been chosen an honorary guest for the expo this year, a position expected to draw the attention of all visitors. Sallam considered this an added chance for Egyptian officials to introduce the economic as well as the developmental achievements made recently.
