CAIRO, Oct. 12 (SEE) – Faculty of Applied Arts at Helwan University, in cooperation with ‘Pepsi 7 up’ company, launched a competition for the best design of new cans that reflect the Egyptian culture and identity.
Prof. Maged Negm, president of the University stated that the student participation in this competition is almost a step in job market, which in turn would enhance their skills. He also noted that the idea of reflecting the Egyptian identity through slogans and logos was one of the recommendations of the youth conference help under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Prof. Maisoun Qotb, dean of the faculty, said that this competition is held to bring back the authentic art of Egypt. She added that the faculty had unique departments which made ‘Pepsi’ attracted to it and even sent representatives to take part in a ceremony to be held to declare winners in the competition by the end of this month.
The artist Ghada Waly, who designed the current cans used by the company, announced earlier the requirements of the competition, and noted that the participation could be by one person or a group of maximum 3. She also presented suggestions of inspiring designs.
