CAIRO, Oct.10 (SEE)- Ambassador Nabila Makram, Minister of Immigration and Expatriates Affairs, received earlier today a Czech Parliament Delegation. They discussed strengthening the relations between the two countries, combating illegal immigration and ways through which the European Union could assist Egypt to eliminate the phenomenon.
The minister said that illegal immigration phenomenon has become an international crisis as many countries in Europe and worldwide are suffering from it. She pointed out to the efforts Egypt is doing to eradicate this phenomenon by carrying out researches that examine its nature and motivators.
Efforts encompass developing the Governorates that embrace the phenomenon as in Kafr El-Sheikh where a number of development projects such as “Ghelioon lake” are implemented.
On their side, the delegation members appreciated the Egyptian government’s efforts in popularizing safe immigration as means of withstanding the situation.
They added that the Ministry of Immigration plays a pivotal role in eradicating this phenomenon and protecting youth from unknown dangers; through true cooperation with the civil institutions in a number of projects that aim to train youth according to recent European labor market measures.
The delegation members also praised the Egyptian paradigm in treating refugees who regard the country as a second home, commending the coexistence of the Syrian community in Egypt that receives support from Egyptians. They suggested that the experience should be exported to the rest of the world.
The meeting also reviewed actions the EU can implement to support Egypt in its different issues including the illegal immigration.
Makram clarified that it is vital to diversify the procedures in relevance to the current situation in Egypt that needs more support in developing governorates that struggle with illegal immigration.
