CAIRO, Oct. 10 (SEE)- Liverpool forward and Egypt international Mohamed Salah has been selected among the 30 players nominated for the 2018 Ballon d’Or award which is sponsored by French magazine “France Football”. Salah is currently leading the polls with 53% the official France Football website.
Lionel Messi is currently behind Salah with just 28% of the overall votes. In total, over 220,000 people have voted in the poll, and surprisingly, Cristiano Ronaldo sits in third with just 5%, despite winning the Champions League with Real Madrid, among other accomplishments.
It has been an incredible year for Salah, and clearly thousands of people believe he should be crowned the 2018 Balon d’Or winner. Even though he is currently off-form in the Premier League, Salah’s nomination was expected after his incredible and historic season with Liverpool last term, as he scored 44 goals in all competitions, 32 of which were scored in the Premier League, making him the highest Premier League scorer in history.
The trophy winner will be announced on the 3rd of December.
